Gina and Master Ransom taught skills and drills needed to train for competition sparring:- speed, accuracy, movement and agility. At 185cm tall, Gina's experience as a top female international champion and her skills were great appreciated by the members present on the day.
Vivienne and Master Neal taught Poomsae techniques and patterns. With "constant change" being second nature in Poomsae, there is a real need for Senior Belt, Black belts and Instructors to keep their knowledge up to date.
Vivienne and Gina also shared with members their experiences training for their respective national teams and competing internationally. The cultural differences between New Zealand and China and how athletes are trained were very interesting for the members to hear and both Vivienne and Gina held a captivated group of young athletes entertained with their stories and experiences.
At the conclusion of the seminar Vivienne presented the regional Instructors with the official WTF Poomsae Book that the Union is currently distributing to clubs. This book is an excellent reference and guide for all instructors and members.
The Auckland Instructors would like to thank Garry Carpenter (Welcome Bay Club Senior Instructor) for arranging and hosting the seminar and for his club's hospitality.
