Auckland Team Coach, Gina Gao

Gina Gao is the current New Zealand Junior Female Team Coach and a two time National China Champion and former China National Team member. She also holds a Bachelor of Sport & Exercise. In 2010 joined Auckland Taekwondo as a Team Coach instantly providing expert international experience for our members. In this role Gina works closely with our Senior Coach Michelle Maurice in ensuring our team members get the best and most up to date coaching advice and training.

 

Gina also regularly helps out as a presenter at Taekwondo seminars and is always willing to pass on the benefit of her knowledge and experiences to our younger athletes. She comments, “since I have had previous experience as a professional athlete, to be able to continue to participate in sport is very important in my daily life. In addition to having had Taekwondo training, I enjoy playing other sports as well.”

Her international experience also includes working as a journalist for the China Sports Publications Corporation and in this position has reported on a number of prestigious international Taekwondo events including the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2007 World Championships.
